Rug design workshop with Nicola Cerini

14 Apr

I was lucky enough to participate in a rug design workshop at the end of march ran by textile designer Nicoal Cerini. We were given a design brief to design a floor rug collection for a hypothetical Australian design company.

Our customer profile was someone who was discerning and design conscious, had a good knowledge of art and design and an appreciation for quality home furnishings. They would be inner city dwellers living in an apartment or renovated period home and  earn a salary of $50,000 +.

We had to come up with 4 to 6 designs incorporating traditional mark making techniques such as drawings, mono printing, rubbings etc.

I ended up with a lot of different designs, but here are some of my designs which are perhaps a little more successful….I ended up calling this range of designs the ‘Oriental Collection’ for pretty obvious reasons…..
